My Library

This guide will show you how to use the My Library functionality in your Contento account to make the content modelling process much more efficient

Each Contento account has its own My Library section in the Library tab where you can create content types you want to reuse across different sites and add content types from previously built sites. You can then add your saved content types to new sites as you're building them instead of starting from scratch.

Add Content Types To Library

You can create your content types directly in your My Library if you wish to save them there for future use across multiple sites. In your My Library tab you will see an Add new button at the top right of the screen.

If you click this it will allow you to add a content type just as you would in a site, but instead you are saving it to your library.

Add from site

You can also use the Add from site button at the top right of the screen to add any content types from previous sites you have built in Contento

When you click Add from site you will be shown all the sites you currently have in your Contento account.

Once you select a site you will see all the content types available in that site and can select which you wish to add to your My Library.

The content types you add will then be saved to your My Library and have a new tag next to them the first time you view them.

Add to library

When you go to the manage content types tab for any site you have in Contento and select a content type you have previously built, you will see the option to Add to library in the actions menu. This will save this content type in your My Library for you to use again in other sites.

Add Content Types To Site

In your My Library tab you can add content types to a site you are building by selecting them and clicking the Add to site button in the actions menu.

You will then be asked which site you would like to add them to and shown a list of all your current sites in Contento.

Once you select a site you will be asked to confirm the name, handle and uri (if required) of each content type you are adding to the site.

Once you click Add to site the content types will then appear in the Manage Content Types tab of the site you have chosen with a new tag to show you which have been recently added.

Add from library

When you're in the manage content types tab for a site, you will also see there is an Add from library button at the top right of the screen. This allows you to access your My Library and choose content types you wish to add to this site.

When you click Add from library you will see a list of the content types that you have saved in your My Library and you can select the ones you wish to add to this site and click next.

You will then be asked to confirm the name, handle and uri (if required) of each content type you are adding to the site.

Once you click Add to site the content types will then appear in the sites Manage Content Types tab with a new tag to show you which were recently added.

Errors

If you already have a content type in the site you are trying to add to that has the same handle or uri you will be given an error and asked to change it to something unique.
